Wa’ed: Prisoners to go on hunger strike next Saturday

The Wa’ed society for prisoners said that the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails would go on hunger strike next Saturday, which marks the Palestinian prisoner’s day, as part of their protest steps against Israeli repressive measures.

The society said in a statement on Thursday that the first day the prisoners went on hunger strike was a success, which made some of the Israeli prisons administrations ask for a meeting with representatives of those prisoners to convince them not to escalate their protests.

It said that the prisoners were adamant on meeting their demands to improve their incarceration conditions, to allow family visits without harassment, and to end solitary confinement.

The society asked for massive participation in the hunger strike that would be organized on Saturday and the sit-in at the Red Cross premises in solidarity with those prisoners.
