Dr. Hasan Khater, the secretary general of the Islamic Christian commission to support Jerusalem and the holy shrines, said that the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) had built 218 synagogues in occupied Jerusalem including 70 in the Old City. Khater in a press statement on Sunday said that the IOA was continuing to build synagogues and erecting other Jewish religious symbols all over the holy city with special emphasis on the Old City. He said that a new scheme was revealed indicating that the IAO was planning to build a huge synagogue near the Aqsa Mosque to the east of the ruins synagogue that was officially inaugurated late last month. Khater denied that the Jews really needed that big number of synagogues, adding that the IAO was rather trying to change the landmarks of the holy city. He held the world community, represented in UNESCO, OIC, The Vatican, and the UN, fully responsible for what is happening to Jerusalem, urging the Islamic and Christian clergymen to defend Jerusalem in face of judaization. |
