Several MBs arrested after meeting with ElBaradei discussing reform

State Security forces arrested several activists affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood following their meeting with ElBaradei to discuss political reform in Egypt. The arrests reflect growing anxiety among government’s ranks from the momentum Mr. ElBaradei has given to the popular demands of wide constitutional and political reform in Egypt ahead of the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

The BBC reported that the Egyptian diplomat and former U.N. nuclear watchdog chief Mohamed el Baradei, might run for the presidency where he turned to the social networking system of ”Facebook” to call for political reform. He called on supporters to join his movement “the National Association for Change” which he formed upon his return to Egypt.

ElBaradei stressed that he would only consider running for the presidency, against Mubarak, under the condition of constitutional reforms.

Mubarak who has been in power for 30 years has not confirm running for presidency, nor has his son, Gamal.
