Khudari: occupation denies Gaza 85% of its needs

GAZA, —  MP Jamal al-Khudari, chairman of the Popular Committee Against the Siege (PCAS) that the Israeli occupation only allows 15% of the Gaza Strip’s needs to enter the strip through one border-crossing which is partially open.

After a visit to a number of closed factories in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, Khudari said: “The occupation only allows the entry of 70 categories of goods out of 4000 and bars the entry of raw materials causing hundreds of factories to close at a loss of hundreds of millions of dollars.

He also said that the Israeli occupation bars the entry of building materials such as steel, cement and wood which has doubled the suffering of those Gazans whose homes were destroyed by the IOF during the war on Gaza last year.

He stressed that it was essential for the international community to bring pressure to bear on the Israeli occupation to open the Gaza borders crossings instead of being contented with shy calls for an easing or a lifting of the siege.
