Ismail Haneyya, the Palestinian premier, called on the Arab summit scheduled to open in the Libyan capital by the end of this month to activate the issue of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation jails.

Haneyya, in a speech on Tuesday at the inauguration of the national campaign in defense of prisoners' rights, asked the Arab leaders to raise the question of those prisoners at all Arab, regional and international platforms.

He proposed establishment of a fund called the Palestinian prisoners fund to support them and their families. He said that Arab and Muslim countries would contribute to this fund that would be also used for legal procedures to follow up their cases.

He said that the fund would enable the ministry of prisoners to file lawsuits at international courts against the Israeli violations of prisoners.

The premier asked the official Arab media to accord more prominence to this question, underlining that 2010 would be the year of the prisoners.

He mentioned a plan to activate the issue in Europe where the Israeli deceptive media machine was ruling supreme and was turning the victim into the culprit and vice versa.
