Hassan Shindi strangled to death near his home

On 23 September 2009, Hassan Shindi's family awoke to find him dead; strangled and tied by his hands and feet, close to his home in a village near Alexandria. Sources indicate that his death was as a result of an on-going dispute over land claims between police officers and local farmers, of whom Hassan Shindi was a community leader.
