The Palestinian government headed by premier Ismail Haneyya deplored the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) for judaizing the names of villages, towns and streets in the 1948 occupied lands and Jerusalem, stressing that Israel cannot change the fact that it is occupation whatever changes it made.

In a statement issued following the weekly cabinet meeting, the government called on the Palestinian people in the 1948 occupied lands to resist the Zionist schemes through upholding their Palestinian and Arab identity and entrenching it in their awareness in order to be able to confront the Jewish cultural invasion.

Regarding the national dialog, the government held Fatah faction responsible for not reaching a reconciliation agreement so far and emphasized that all facts on the ground indicate that Fatah is not serious at all about ending the internal division and cannot make a decision to end it.

The statement noted that what was revealed by Fatah leader Farouq Al-Qaddoumi about the involvement of Mahmoud Abbas and his aide Mohamed Dahlan in the assassination of late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat and Dr. Abdel Aziz Al-Rantisi, a prominent Hamas leader, in addition to others need to be deliberated and studied by all Palestinian leaders.

The statement welcomed the step taken lately by the British government to impose a partial arms embargo against Israel due to its violations in Gaza, asking it to do more than that especially since it bears great moral responsibility for the plight of the Palestinian people in 1948.

It also hailed the group of eight industrialized nations for demanding Israel to end its siege on Gaza and called on the non-aligned summit held in Sharm Al-Sheikh to take practical steps to end the blockade and support the political rights of the Palestinian people.

The government also warned in its statement of wasting the funds handed over to the Palestinian Authority (PA) by the World Bank, saying that this money reached dishonest hands and Gaza did not receive one dime of these funds allocated for the help of its people.
