Iraqi Accord Front Vows To Remain Committed To Political Process

Iraqi Accord Front confirmed that targeting Deputy Prime Minister Salam al-Zubaie will not make it backtrack from its political course.

The Iraqi Accord Front confirmed that the assassination attempt against the Deputy Prime Minister Salam al-Zubaie will not dissuade it from its political course and its targets of spreading national unity and reaching the independence of the homeland.

The Front said in a statement:” The Iraqi Accord Front won’t be intimidated by these criminal acts and it won’t stop short of maintaining its political march and clear targets of reinforcing the national unity, reaching independence of the homeland and stopping violence by any means”.

“Condemning these dangerous and terrorist acts, we call for hitting with an iron fist the terrorist and criminal powers on the domestic, regional and international levels which target Iraqi leaders”, said the statement, pointing out that ” this attempt (of targeting the deputy PM) is a part of a series that started with targeting Dr. Mahmoud Al Mashahdani, the House speaker and was followed by targeting the vice-president Dr. Adel Abdul Mahdi”.

For his part, Dr. Alaa Makki, PM for Iraqi Accord Front, confirmed that the bombing that targeted Dr. al-Zobaie and other fellow members proves that the Iraqi Accordance Front is moving on the right track, and that its political attitude is right, making it a target from all these ill-intentioned persons who have deformed political or ideological mindsets.

Makki said in a statement to Ikhwanweb that:” The situation in Iraq is sliding into chaos, and I think that the criminal accident that took place on Friday amd the one that took place on Thursday when the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the Prime Minister were holding a press conference, prove that the military solution isn’t enough alone for handling the Iraqi problem; the political crisis is serious and needs efforts from all sides to solve it.
Makki stressed that the Iraqi Accordance Front does not act according to daily accidents; it has its clear strategy concerning the political process and how to solve problems.

It is worth mentioning that 9 Iraqis were killed including 6 guard elements of Dr Salam Al-Zobaie, the Deputy Prime Minister, and others were injured in a failed assassination attempt that targeted Dr. Al-Zobaie while performing the Friday Prayer on Friday.
Sources close to Dr. Al-Zobaie confirmed he was wounded in the abdomen and shoulder and that he was having a surgery in Ibn Sina hospital; doctors there declined to give further information about his health. The deaths included Al-Zobaie’s brother and his personal secretary and of his aides.

Al-Zobaie was born in Baghdad in 1959 and received his PHD from Baghdad University in 2000 and became the head of agronomists before he became a Deputy Prime Minister in this government.
