Khudari appeals to world’s labor unions to support Gaza workers

MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, on Wednesday called on all labor unions around the world to seriously move on the international labor day to support Gaza workers and civil servants and find tangible solutions to thousands of them who became unemployed as a result of the Israeli siege and aggression.

In a statement received by the PIC, MP Khudari said that thousands of workers in Gaza were rendered unemployed after the closure of a majority of factories and workshops as a result of the blockade, noting the number rose alarmingly especially after the devastating Israeli war.

He also appealed to international relief organizations to contribute to promoting the steadfastness of Palestinian workers of Gaza through establishing relief projects alleviating their suffering.

In another context, the government committee to break the siege appealed the organizers of the European Hope convoy that is due to arrive in Gaza next month to save the health and education sectors in Gaza from the depletion of paper used by schools and hospitals.

The committee also warned of the serious repercussions of the Israeli siege on Gaza which destroyed the education process, saying that many students do not find schools to study in or chairs to sit on after they were destroyed by the Israeli war and use instead tents and caravans as schools.

In a new development, 18 ambulances and trucks loaded with medicines and medical supplies travelled Wednesday from Denmark and Britain to the Italian city of Milan to join the European Hope convoy which will head to the besieged Gaza Strip earlier next month.
