Dozens Protest In Front of State Council On ‘Day of Rage’

Dozens of political activists and representatives of opposition factions protested in front of the State Council Monday noon, April 6, against NDP approaches to economic and political issues.

In their statement delivered by Ayman Nur, Founder of the Ghad party, demonstrators requested the formation of a new Egyptian constitution, just laws for the exercise of political rights, the generalization of the elections mechanism, legal and judicial checks and balances, and a redefining of the role of the presidential institution.

The statement further emphasized the necessity of freeing media property from the state’s hands and announced a bundle of political, social, and economic reforms as well as the elimination of all barriers to the flexible circulation of power and the halting of inherited accession to power.

Murad Street witnessed intensive security presence today in addition to karate teams, bullies, and police in civil uniforms.
