Essam El-Erian: Dialogue Is A Foundation of Our Movement

Dr. Essam El-Erian, a leader in the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, said that the group welcome dialogue with any authority, institution or country.

In a statement to Ikhwanweb, Dr. Essam El-Erian, the head of the political section in the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group, said “Dialogue is a means for joint communication between us and the others” adding that the Muslim Brotherhood doesn’t object to any dialogue aiming at reaching mutual understanding and to expalin the group’s ideas concerning reform and international relations.

Al Erian pointed out that the Muslim Brotherhood does not refuse to hold dialogue with the US administration in particular but there are several reservations towards the stance of the current US administration after its clear retreat from reform in Egypt and its implicit support of regime in repressing its people .

Al Erian added that the US administration has become a main factor in supporting the Egyptian regime in confronting the Egyptian political opposition powers, specially the Muslim Brotherhood; the US administration did not criticize or condemn transferring civilians to military courts or freezing their assets; this confirms that the US administration believes the untrue allegations about the Muslim Brotherhood that the Egyptian regime is spreading to stop the foreign pressures for reform in Egypt .

Regarding the program of the MB political party, Al Erian said the program is still under preparation; a big part of it has been prepared, but the news reported in newspapers are groundless.

In a related context, a delegation from the US Congress met Dr. Saad Al Katatni, the head of the MB parliamentary bloc, during its last visit to the Egyptian People’s Assembly.
