Protest Against Blogger’s Disappearance, Extending Detention of Another

A group of internet bloggers and activists in cooperation with April 6 Youth Movement organized a protest on Saturday before the Prosecutor General”s office against the disappearance of blogger Mohamed Adel, founder of “Dead” blog.

State Security forces stormed into Adel”s house and searched it while he disappeared amidst expectations of arrest and torture.

Further, Blogger Mohamed Khairi is still kept in Sannouras police station despite release warrant he received from Faiyum prosecution four days ago.

Khairi was detained on October 22nd due to participating in the Anti-Gaza Siege Popular Campaign. However, he was released after imprisonment for 15 days. Thus, this is the second time for Khairi to be arrested within one month.

Right organizations strenuously criticized the security apparatus for the intensive round-up campaign launched against internet activists who say their only crime is disclosing the violations of the regime.
