GAZA, The interior ministry in Gaza called on the Egyptian authorities to open the Rafah border crossing before patients and stranded people, asserting that it is ready to open the crossing after it completed all administrative and legal procedures.

In a statement received by the PIC, the ministry said that it finished the registration of all passengers according to their categories like patients, students, and visa holders.

The ministry explained that there are about 450 patients in need of medical treatment abroad, 600 students who study in foreign universities in addition to more than 1,200 residents in foreign countries, pointing out that the wives who want to join their husbands outside Gaza also could register their names and process their documents.

The ministry underlined that in case the Egyptian side decided to open the crossing, those who registered their names would be informed through the newspapers and the ministry"s website about the bus number he or she would leave on and the travel date.

The ministry also stressed that any person who is proved to have hand forged travel documents or to be registered in a category he or she does not belong to would be sent to the public prosecutor.
