Secretary of the Democratic Front Party (DFP) Khlaed Sorour announced on Wednesday the formation of The Liberal Youth Front (LYF), the first liberal organization for Egyptian youth.

Sorour said that the party has already held its first elections, and that members must be under 30 as a condition.

The election organizing committee has set the rules for accepting membership, including that the applicant must have engaged in any party activity or attended meetings of the youth secretariat.

All the positions have been filled except for the Secretary General of the LYF, which has two candidates. Around 109 member have participated in the vote.

The elections resulted in the formation of the leadership of the organization of LYF, with Shehab Abdelhamid as the leader of the organization, Yahia Al Melegi as the deputy leader, and Abdelmonem Emam as the secretary general.

The executive office elections brought five members, Miriam Morad, Sarah Sofian, Abdulrahman Ahmad, Mohamed Abdelnabi, and Mohamed Amin.

The elected Secretary General Emam told Ikhwanweb that the aim for the organization is to train young members of the DFP in political participation and national activism, urging them to be present in the Egyptian street and engaging in all national events. This will result in building the infrastructure of youth who care about their country and work for its prosperity, he added.

Emam pointed out that the party sought to establish LYF to help launch several activities such as training courses on the importance of political participation so as to increase the political awareness of youth, and also to inaugurate public and regional campaigns  that embrace national issues that concern the Egyptian citizen.
