Habib Denies News of Alleged MB Facebook Group

Muslim Brotherhood Deputy Chairman Mohamed Habib categorically denied reports of his endorsement of an internet group on the popular Facebook social network calling for the establishment of Islamic Caliphate, he told Ikhwanweb Sunday.

Adnkronos International (AKI) reported that a group of Muslim Brotherhood youth founded a new Facebook group calling for the establishment of the Islamic Caliphate, and that they received the go-ahead from MB deputy chairman Dr. Mohamed Habib

"I did not issue any statements in this regard and we have no records of such endorsement to any news agency" Habib told Ikhwanweb.

"The massage the alleged group propagates is not the core of Muslim Brotherhood call. The Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is a grassroots mainstream Islamist organization dedicated to comprehensive reform and seeking peaceful democratic transformation."

Habib said that MB is not calling for imposing Islamic rule on non-Muslim nations. "These claims show pure ignorance of MB ideology. What we call for is a modern civil state with an Islamic reference that expresses the will of majority our people."
