Hamas: Blair’s statement proves international involvement in internal disputes

The Hamas Movement on Saturday charged that the international quartet committee”s envoy Tony Blair”s statement on training PA security apparatuses in the West Bank had proven that international parties were involved in internal Palestinian differences.

Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesman in Gaza, said in a press release that Blair”s statement is a frank admission that international parties were involved and still are in arming and training a Palestinian party against another.

He said that the statement reflected that the role of training those security forces was mainly to confront the resistance factions topped by Hamas in addition to forging closer security coordination with occupation.

The spokesman underlined that such practices would not weaken the resistance project and would only carry contrary results. He also asked those parties to end such a role and to read well the lessons of Gaza.

Blair had told Israeli paper Jerusalem Post that the security forcers currently being trained in Jordan were being prepared to be more effective than those who failed in controlling Gaza, and added that the aim of such training was also to convince Israel to depend on the PA”s security capability.
