Facebook activists have commenced a popular campaign calling for the release of Abdul-Hai Al-Faramawi, Muslim Brotherhood professor of Religious Studies at Al-Azhar University.  The campaign is titled “The Popular Campaign for Releasing Faramawi”.

They called for immediate release of Faramawi due to his reputable social and scientific status, and because of the trumped up charges against him, which were officially denied by the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.

Faramawi’s students are the founders of the campaign.  They defended their professor and wrote his rich biography.

Faramawi has been arrested last April after being charged with membership in an outlawed group, conspiring with a foreign organization (Hamas), by giving it military and financial support.
