Hamas: Birzeit students’ elections prove failure of attempts to eliminate Hamas

The Hamas Movement on Tuesday congratulated the Islamic bloc in Birzeit University for winning 19 seats out of its 51 students” council seats despite constant harassment at the hands of PA chief Mahmoud Abbas”s security apparatuses.

Dr. Sami Abu Zuhri, a Hamas spokesmen in Gaza, said in a press release that the Islamic bloc managed to grab this big number of seats despite turning the University campus into military barracks on the election day by Abbas”s security in a bid to terrorize supporters of the Islamic bloc.

“We, in Hamas, believe that the results prove failure of all attempts led by Abbas”s security in coordination with Israeli occupation to eliminate Hamas in the West Bank”, he elaborated.

Abu Zuhri urged Abbas to stop the ongoing persecution of leaders of the Islamic bloc and to release its detained members, and charged that the step was meant to influence results of the elections.

He saluted the Islamic bloc members who challenged quelling and security bullying, participated in the elections and won this high percentage.
