The Syrian Human Rights Committee (SHRC) in cooperation with the Arab Orient Centre for Strategic and Civilization Studies has launched a humanitarian campaign for the release of prisoners of conscience, of which there are Syrians, Lebanese, Jordanians and Palestinians...

On the anniversary of Syrias Independence- which was achieved by all Syrians through their unity and concord- the signatories of this document call upon the president of the Republic Bashar Al-Assad to make this national day a landmark in the nations contemporary history, in which the records of the prisons are cleared, and all prisoners of conscience are released regardless of their allegiancesFor the support of a humanitarian and united Syria.

We hope that this act will target all prisoners, including:

-Mrs Fida Al-Horani and all female detainees

-The Intellects, Activists and Men of the Civil Society and the Damascus Declaration, including the likes of Arif Dalila, Michel Kilo, Anwar al-Buni, Akram al-Buni, Riyadh Seif, Yassir al-Iti, Riyadh Daraar, Mohammed Kamal al-Mweel, Fayez Sara, Mohammed Haji Darweesh, Talal Abu Daan, Nizar Rastnawi, Ahmed Tomeh Al-Khidr, Jabr al-Shawqi, Ali al-Abdullah, Marwan al-Ush, Mahmoud Issa, Firas Saad and others

- The Islamist detainees who have spent more than a quarter of a century in prison: Releasing those that have remained, and revealing the fate of those that disappeared of which there are thousands, such as Ibrahim Aasi, Mahmoud Sweid, Abdul-Wadood Yusuf and others

- Those that have been sentenced according to law 49/1980 and its associations, including Mahmoud al-WafaaI, Omar Darweesh, Ridwan Darweesh, Mahmoud Ali al-Nabhaan, Mohammed Ahmed al-Afandi, Mohammed Osama al-Sayes, Abdulrahman al-Mussa, Ahmed Ibrahim al-Sayed, Yusuf Hussein, Muhammed Thabit Halali, Fuad al-Shughri, Muhammed Haydar Zammar, Mahmoud Summaq, Abdul-Jabbar Allawi, Yassin al-Saayil, Yusuf Najiah, Muwafaq Qurmah, Ahmed al-Ajeel, Ibrahim al-Khalaf, Sami Derbaak, Khalid Ahmed, Tariq Hallaq, Ali Ismail, Abdul-Nasir Derbaak, Jamal Jaloul, Usamah Abideen, Mahmoud Shahoud, and others

-Those that have been sentenced due to their Islamic leanings e.g. Salafi groups, Hizb-ul-Tahreer and so on. Includes: Muhammed Tawfeeq Karzoun, Barakat al-Aswad, Anas al-Jamaas, Mustafa al-Sheikh, Abdulrahman Wazzan and others

-Kurdish prisoners of whom there are many, the likes of: Jawan Ibrahim, Izideen Hussein, Ahmed Hasan Habash, Hameed Mohammed Suleiman, Ibrahim al-hajj, Yusuf and Adnan Mameesh and others

-Prisoners from neighbouring Arab Countries such as Lebanon , Jordan and Palestine

The closure of the arbitrary political dossier in Syria would strengthen its unity, enabling it to surmount difficulties and overcome all crisis.

The aim of this campaign is purely humanitarian, taking into account the individual and collective interests on both the humanitarian and national levels for our country and people, for whom we hold great respect and devotion.
