The Beit Al-Sahel water corporation warned on Wednesday of imminent spread of epidemics and diseases among Gaza people after the IOA barred the entry of disinfectants and chlorine used to fumigate water in Gaza wells.

In a press conference, Mondher Bushlak, the director of the corporation, underlined that instructions were given to the heads of Gaza districts to shut down 52 wells due to lack of chlorine before they are used by citizens, adding that the Gaza people were also instructed to boil water before drinking.

Bushlak pointed out that many appeals were sent to human rights organizations, the UNRWA and the world health organization to pressure the Israeli occupation to allow the entry of disinfectants to Gaza.

The director explained that 30 percent of Gaza people are getting undrinkable water and the wells in 30 percent of Gaza districts stopped operating and were shut down, adding that Gaza needs 60 thousand liters of disinfectants to desalinize water.

The director also warned that most of Gaza areas are threatened with another health catastrophe because many projects to build drainage basins had stopped because of the Israeli siege.
