Thousands of Palestinians celebrate the Egyptian win

Thousands of Palestinians have gathered infront of Rafah border crossing at Salah Al-Din gate in a demonstration of happiness celebrating the win of the Egyptian national soccer team who had the Cup of Africa Nations (CAN) title.

Palestinians raised pictures of the Egyptian football player “Mohamed Abu Treika” who has previously declared his sympathizing with Gaza in one of the championship matches where he showed a tee-shirt in which “sympathize with Gaza” was written.

In a private statement to Ikhwanweb, Abu Salem, Palestinian chief of Customs Authority of Rafah border crossing, stated that what the people of Gaza have done today is the least they can offer to the Egyptian society who had an influential role standing by the Palestinians and helping lifting Gaza blockade.

Abu Salem believed that such demonstrations, which started a few minutes after the end of the match, are a way of expressing gratitude and appreciation to the supporting act of Abu Treika.

Abu Salem also confirmed that the Palestinians, specially the people of Gaza, are very close to the Egyptian people. They certainly feel happy for the Egyptian happiness.

Adding that such demonstration celebrating the Egyptian win of the Championship for the second time in a row is quite logical as the peoples of Gaza consider the Egyptian national soccer team their own Palestinian team.
