Opposition Announces Measures to Support Palestinians

Political powers that took part in press conference held on Monday, Jan, 21st, 2008, in the premises of the Muslim Brotherhood Executive Bureau, called on Arab foreign ministers immediately intervene to lift the blockade imposed by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) on Gaza Strip. They also called for holding an emergency UN session for this escalation and called also for stopping all contacts with the Zionist entity, in response to this unjust blockade imposed by IOF on Gaza Strip .
 
These powers called also for initiating fundraising campaigns and donations to send them immediately to the Palestinians in Gaza and declared also forming a committee that includes representatives from political powers, popular movements, parties, syndicates, parliamentarians and the Muslim Brotherhood group to prepare for carrying out an action aiding resistance in order to move past events and follow-up in order to implement the approved items and to study what these popular powers can take to open borders and lift this blockade so that the Palestinian people restore their right to live and resist the hideous occupation and aggression .
 
These actions included a delegation of MPs who went to the Arab League and another delegation of other MPs who went to Abdeen Palace (the official residence of the Egyptian president). They also called for holding an emergency session on in the People”s Assembly to discuss this issue. Next Wednesday at 2.00PM, a public conference will be held in front of the university while aid convoys will be sent to Gaza and. As for next Thursday, a public conference will be held in the Doctors” Syndicate, and the members of parliament will demand the Interior Ministry allow holding a public conference in Cairo International Stadium next Thursday.
 
This committee declared that it will continue its meetings to lay down a program for the coming activities. It will also call for making next Friday a day of protest and furor in front of the mosques in Egypt and all over the world to call for confronting what is committed against civilians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
 
In his speech, Mohamed Mahdi Akef, the MB Chairman, confirmed that Palestinians in Gaza reached a very bad situation and that Arab and Islamic nations and all the world must take a decisive stance to stop this “slow killing and genocide” committed against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
