Hamas captives condemn Bush’s statements and criticise Abas’s lack of response

Hamas captives in Israeli jails condemned statements made by US President Bush in Ramallah calling them “a naked attack on our people and their right to struggle against those who occupy their land and confiscate their rights for decades.”

They also criticised PA President Mahmoud Abbas for hosting Bush despite the latter”s insults to the Palestinian people saying: “any free leader in world would not have allowed his guest to insult his people and in their home,” the captives said in a press statement smuggled from the Askalan prison on Friday.

“The joint press conference held by Bush and Abbas in Ramallah has revealed what has been hidden and showed the true American intentions which are totally biased in favour of the Zionists, by giving legal cover to the settlements and making the continued Zionist aggression against our people legal and protected by the Americans,” the statement read, adding that Abbas was not up to the responsibility as talked at length about the internal Palestinian rift and went along with the American stance by renewing his promise to fight the resistance factions under the rubric of “fighting terror.”

The captives further said that Bush”s reiteration of his commitment to the security of Israel as a “Jewish state” proves his racist attitudes and his total bias against the Palestinian people and that Abbas should have made one honourable stand in his life by kicking the American President out of Ramallah.
