Egyptian security stroke off four Muslim Brotherhood (MB) candidate s in Tanta sports club elections held on Friday Sep, 7th, 2007 , at the Tanta-based club, although the MB group"s was a symbolic participation aiming to contribute to serving the club. The four MB Tanta club members whose names were stricken off are:
Dr.  Magdi Al Hefnawi, (MB candidate for a treasurer)
Dr. Tawhid Muwafi, a physician (MB candidate for a board member)
Dr. Ahmed Al Sakhawi, a physician (MB candidate for a board member)
Khaled Rabie, BA of Law (MB candidate for a board member)

These candidates filed a lawsuit against this decision at the Administrative Court . The court cancelled the decision of striking them off the election lists and ordered the authority in question to add them again in the election lists to participate in the election process.

Authorized Committees Unauthorized!!!

The candidates" lawyer attempted to hand over a copy of the ruling to the committee running the election process to add them to the election list, the club"s committee refused to receive the ruling under the pretext that it is not "authorized" and that the authorized person is the deputy minister who isn"t in the area. The same reaction came from the judicial committee supervising the elections. It refused to receive it claiming it isn"t authorized.

This action shows how far the security intervention contributes to preventing reformists from exercising their role in any state-run institution.

It is worth mentioning that the security stunned the candidates with the last hour decision of striking off their names to deprive them of any time to react. However, the Administrative Court "s ruling backed the candidates and showed the ugly face of the security service whose response was refusing to receive this ruling.
