Aboul-Fotouh: We Welcome Serious Dialogue For Our National Interests

A report prepared by the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Commons called on UK government to hold vis-a-vis dialogues with Hamas movement, the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group in Egypt and Hezbollah in Lebanon .

The committee demanded the UK government to open direct channels with the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, while Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas spokesman, welcomed the calls for dialogue, confirming that Hamas is ready to hold any dialogue with the West, specially Europe .

For its part, the Muslim Brotherhood group in Egypt welcomed the calls for dialogue.

“Face-to-face dialogue is the best means for contact with others so that we can understand each other” said a Muslim Brotherhood Executive Bureau member.

Dr. Abdel Moneim Abul Fotouh said that the Muslim Brotherhood welcomes dialogues with any party that gives a priority to national interests.

The MB Executive Bureau member added that the dialogue is acceptable under conditions, including the other party, inside or outside the country, is serious in the claims of dialogue.

Aboul-Fotouh stressed that the dialogue must be based on national interests so as to include all national powers, regardless of any party or personal or political interests.

Those interested in dialogue must be keen to preserve the independence of their homeland in their dialogue with any foreign party, he said.

Aboul-Fotouh confirmed that the Muslim Brotherhood has a message and aims to talk with others to explain the MB’s message, ideas and stances so that every thing is clear to all.

“We see that the best means for communication with others is to have a mutual understanding through face-to-face channels”, said the MB leader.

He stressed that the dialogue with the West and others is useful for all mankind because it enhances the human communication among human beings.

However, Aboul-Fotouh confirmed that prior to any dialogue, any Western power that has any hostile and unfair attitudes towards the Islamic and Arab world, must first change this attitudes as a goodwill gesture.

Aboul-Fotouh said that holding dialogue with those committing hideous killings and fully support the occupation crimes against the Palestinians, referring to the US administration, requires that such parties change their attitudes.

Aboul-Fotouh said also that if the dialogue yields no result, the concerned parties at least lose nothing.
