The Muslim Brotherhood denied Der Spiegel’s claims that Ayman Al-Zawahiri was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood before he joins al Qaeda, said an MB leader to Ikhwanweb.

Dr. Mohamed Morsy, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) Executive Bureau, denied claims by the German newspaper, Der Spiegel, that Ayman Al-Zawahiri, Al-Qaeda’s second-in-command, was Muslim Brotherhood member.

Dr. Ayman Al-Zawahiri was never a member of the Muslim Brotherhood whether an organization or an ideology, said Morsy in statement to Ikhwanweb.

"The Muslim Brotherhood’s ideology is totally against violence and the movement never practiced it" Morsy reaffirmed
