Syria: Thirteen Muslim Brotherhood Prisnoers Released

The AFP news agency quoted Mohanned Al Hosny, the chairman of the Syrian Organization for Human Rights, as saying that 13 of the Muslim Brotherhood members were released. Al Hosny said that these members have been among those who were detained between the years 1981 through 1983 after the bloody events of Hamah which claimed the lives of about ten thousand Syrian people at the hands of the Army and Special security forces at the era of president Hafez Assad. These bloody events synchronized with an infamous law condemning any one suspected of belonging to the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood, which runs counter to the any heavenly religion or legal principles. However, al Hosny declined to say when they will be released.

For his part, Syrian MB Chairman Ali Sadruddin el Bayanoni (picture) said in a statement to Ikhwanweb that there is not confirmed information as regards this news and even if it is true, it is not a good omen as it means nothing for the Muslim Brotherhood amid this statue quo in Syria, adding that it is meaningless to release 13 members who spent 25 years in detention centers while the detention campaigns are still on and law 49 still poses as a sword hanging over the group’s head in addition to another 16000 missing. Bayanoni also said that the news doesn’t carry any signs of a turnaround in the Syrian regime’s attitude .

It is to be mentioned that the Muslim Brotherhood group had earlier twenty five years ago come under a heinous campaign or brutalities and atrocities at the hands of the Syrian security authorities, along with the passage of law 49 for the 1980 which condemns to death, any one belonging or even suspected of belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood .
