Jordanian MB Criticizes Closure of Charity Center

Secretary General of the Islamic Action Front in Jordan, Mr. Zaki Bin Rashid, said  that the decision by the Jordanian Attorney General to dissolve the Islamic Charity Center is wrong and will harm the charity activities in general and will hinder donations flow now that the law has taken effect July 9, 2006.

Jordanian Social Development Minister Dr. Suleiman el Tarawna said that he would instruct the Jordanian Central Bank governor to consider the signatures of the now- dissolved Charity members as invalid, adding that a provisional administrative body is under way to run the activities of the center.

For his part, Mr.Saad el Din el Zameely, the Center’s director, said that his charity centre is licensed by Ministry of Social Affairs, which is authorized by the law to supervise the activities of these societies.
