Egypt Anti-Coup Alliance Denounces Tawadros Visit to Jerusalem
Egypt’s Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance condemned pope Tawadros II (Pope of Alexandria)’s visit to Jerusalem despite a 1979 Church ban aimed at preventing normalization with the Zionist entity after it occupied east Jerusalem.

In a statement Friday, the Alliance said: "Many people were hoping for a positive attitude from the Patriarch of the Orthodox Church, in this crisis. Instead, he reneged on his promise not to visit the Zionist entity, and quickly accompanied the Israeli Ambassador on his plane to Jerusalem to open a new era of unacceptable normalization with Egypt’s enemy".

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria – who participated in the military coup – traveled, at the head of a large church delegation, to Tel Aviv, on the same plane with the Zionist entity’s ambassador in Egypt, to attend the funeral prayer of the Bishop of Jerusalem Anba Abraham, who died on Wednesday.
