Rights Organization Condemns Extra-Judicial Killing of 4 Coup Opponents in Alexandria
The Afro-Arab Center for Freedoms and Human Rights (ACFHR) condemns the brutal crime committed today (Wednesday) by junta authorities, in which security forces acted as police, judge and jury, extrajudicially executing four opponents of the junta regime in Agami, Alexandria.
The Ministry of Interior issued a statement a short while ago claiming its forces killed four Muslim Brotherhood members involved in the killing of a low-ranking police officer called Rabie Mohamed Asfour, alleging the 4 young men resisted arrest. The Interior Ministry’s story is absurd, though. A few months ago, a few Egyptians were arrested and charged of the killing of Asfour.
In fact, as documented by ACFHR, eyewitness accounts affirm that the four were from Delengat town in Beheira province (north of Cairo), and that the four were in an Agami summer resort rental apartment when security forces arrived and imposed a security cordon around the tower block and then stormed the apartment and arrested them. More than an hour and a half later, the sound of gunshots was heard inside the apartment where the four had been held. Then, security forces came out carrying four bodies.
ACFHR established that the four young men who were extrajudicially killed were all from Delengat town in Beheira:
1. Ammar Abdel-Meguid Mohamed, 23 years old, from the village of Gharbaoui, student at the Faculty of Islamic Studies at the University of Kafr El-Sheikh.
2. Hamada Fateh Al-Bab, 23 years old, from the village of Wafaia, student at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Tanta.
3. Mohamed Amouri, 29 years old, from the village of Wafaia, a graduate of the College of Sharia Law.
4. Mohamed Abdel-Wahab Zaid, 38 years old, from the village of Maseen, worked at the Ministry of Religious Endowments.
Tomorrow morning (Thursday), ACFHR will lodge a complaint with the Public Prosecutor calling for an immediate investigation into the incident by an independent panel comprising members of the General Prosecutor’s Office, to uncover the facts and circumstances of the cold-blooded murder of those Egyptians at the hands of the Ministry of Interior’s security forces.
ACFHR affirms that there has been a significant increase in the number of cases of direct extrajudicial execution during or even after apprehension operations in recent months, since the current Interior Minister Major-General Magdy Abdel-Ghaffar took office.
ACFHR further affirms that these incidents have become a systematic approach of the Interior Ministry’s security forces during the arrest of any suspect in the last three months.

Important Update concerning the assassination of the four young people in the statement above:
On September 22 (2015), Mohamed Amouri (student), Ammar Abdel-Meguid Mohamed (student), Hamada Fateh Al-Bab (student), and Mohamed Abdel-Wahab Zaid travelled to Agami, in the sea-port city of Alexandria, to spend Eid Al-Adha holiday.
A week earlier (on September 15), two students called Anas Magdi Allam and Azzam Magdi Allam (both from Menoufia governorate; and are not Muslim Brotherhood members) travelled to Agami to spend the Eid holiday. On September 21, the six completely disappeared, until today when the Interior Ministry announced the killing of four of them.
We learned from our sources that the two young men Anas and Azzam Allam, are now being held in the Alexandria Security Directorate where they are being subjected to severe torture.
