President Morsi Reiterates Solidarity with January 25 Revolution, Rejection of Sham Trial

Mohamed Morsi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, made a statement to the people and the Court, today (Monday), reiterating his rejection of the illegitimate trials, and reaffirming that the January 25 Revolution was the sole representative of the people.

President Morsi made his statement this morning during the first session of the so-called "insulting the judiciary" trial.
"I address my statement to the defense, so it would be recorded in the minutes of the session. First, Happy Eid to all of you, all the Egyptian people, and all Arabs and Muslims everywhere.

"Second, I want to assure the defense of my position with regard to the action taken against me in the trial. I reject the trial – with all due respect to the court and judges. I also affirm my position in support of the revolutionaries and the January 25 Revolution, and against the coup which took place after June 30, 2013."

After the above statement, the presiding judge turned off the sound to silence President Morsi who had been placed behind glass barriers. Then the judge ended the session saying a break was required.
