Egyptian Parliament Sessions to be Held in Turkey

Egyptian Parliament Sessions to be Held in Turkey

It is the pleasure of the elected representatives of the Egyptian people, Egypt’s legitimate parliamentarians, to hereby invite you to attend the Press Conference in which they will announce the reconvening of Egyptian Parliament sessions, at one o’clock (PM) on Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the Titanic Hotel, Bayram Paşa – Istanbul.

The military junta (the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces: SCAF) disbanded the elected People’s Assembly (the first chamber of the Egyptian parliament) immediately before President Mohamed Morsi won the presidential elections in June 2012. SCAF then dissolved the elected Shura Council (the second chamber of the Egyptian parliament) immediately after the military coup against President Morsi on July 3, 2013.

During the Rabaa Square protest sit-in (in the east of Cairo), Shura Council lawmakers held several parliamentary sessions in the Media Center room at the sit-in camp, before the brutal break-up of the peaceful protest sit-in on August 14, 2013.
