Muslim Brotherhood Statement on Coup Leader UN Visit
The Muslim Brotherhood strongly condemns the United Nations reception of the leader of the coup in Egypt at the General Assembly, which means accepting military coups, the use of force in political disputes and the abolition by the army of the emerging democracy after the January 25, 2011 Revolution in Egypt.

The murderer toppled the legitimate President elected by popular will through free and fair elections witnessed by the whole world. Not only did this traitor trample legitimacy and democracy, but also committed the most terrible massacres in Egypt’s modern history, and killed thousands of peaceful demonstrators in Rabaa and Nahda and other public squares as documented by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, which have demanded he is put on trial, together with his cronies, for these massacres.

The United Nations – which must be biased to the principles of truth and justice, human rights and the rights of the people –received the commander of the bloody military coup and allowed him to address the international community, at the headquarters of the organization which is supposed to maintain international peace and security.

Absurdly, this bloody murderer who practiced the worst kinds of state terrorism against the Egyptian people is asking for world community support to continue his crimes against the Egyptian people.

On the other hand, the Muslim Brotherhood’s history extends back over eighty years of community work and political activity. The group provided famous models of successful work in the trade unions and in the Egyptian parliament before the Revolution, and won the confidence of the Egyptian people in all five elections after the January 25 Revolution.

Indeed, the Muslim Brotherhood’s intellectual and religious contributions have saved millions of young people in many countries from engaging in acts of violence. The group remains committed to its peaceful approach in the face of this ruinous coup, despite all the repression and violence it uses against the Egyptian people.

The Muslim Brotherhood salutes all those who stood in the face of this murderer, all Egyptians in Egypt, the United States and other countries of the world who condemned the murderer’s visit to the UN, especially heads of states, politicians, grassroots organizations and all nations that support the people’s right to freedom, democracy and a decent living.
