Muslim Brotherhood Statement on Military Justice, Genocide
Once again, the military junta have revealed their true monstrous faces, and proved they are indeed an enemy of the people, enemy of life itself, of justice, freedom and democracy. They used state institutions, authorities and agencies for the exact opposite of their intended missions.
They use mass media to mislead the people, the army and police to kill and maim unarmed civilians in unprecedented massacres that even foreign occupying forces never dared commit. And now they are abusing the judiciary to commit new horrendous genocide worse that the notorious Denshawai massacre. This, the latest of the murderous junta’s crimes, is the most shocking to the whole free world.
The verdict issued today (Monday) by Minya Criminal Court to execute 529 opponents of the coup is the clearest example of this junta’s treachery and treason. The court had only held one session two days earlier, for a brief few minutes in a procedural session. Then, the verdict was announced quickly after 48 hours. The case file comprises several thousand documents. Most certainly, the judge never read those documents. There simply was no time for that, nor for releasing relevant exhibits or hearing witness accounts or defense statements. The verdict was read out in five minutes.
Such severe sentencing will only double the revolutionaries’ determination and steel their resolve to proceed with the main effort to end the coup and bring to trial every criminal who violated the rights and freedoms of the Egyptian people in order to achieve just retribution.
With these severe sentences, the treasonous coup commanders and collaborators seek to force the Egyptian Revolution away from its so far creative peacefulness. But this will not happen, God willing. Our Revolution will remain peaceful. And again, this injustice, oppression and vindictiveness will strengthen our hearts and resilience, and double our determination to defeat the traitorous military junta, and restore our freedom, our dignity and our sovereignty.
The moment of truth is approaching fast, God willing.
Then, the unjust oppressors will see what destiny they will ultimately meet.
