Egypt Pro-Democracy Alliance Calls Week of ‘Persistence’ Peaceful Anti-Coup Protests

Egyptians fashioned a great epic of steadfastness and persistence against Zionist criminals during the October 6, 1973 War. Men of the popular resistance in Suez – led by Hafez Salama – gave the finest examples of sacrifice for their homeland. Thus October 24 became a bright spot in the history of our people’s struggle against Zionism and its agents.

Today, Egyptians are creating yet another great epic of resilience and persistence, with highly-determined youth and students who have always produced the greatest heroes and revolutions, and women who sacrifice themselves as well as their loved ones, to break the traitorous brutal military coup which is trying to lay its foundations at the expense of the blood and body parts of Egyptians and their homeland.

Sinai has been the target of frequent attacks where coup security forces bombed innocent residents’ homes and razed their lands with bulldozers in order to establish a buffer zone to protect their Zionist friends, as if they were the watchful eyes on the borders of the usurped Holy Land.

These attacks coincide with raids by Zionist settlers and Israeli security forces on Al-Aqsa Mosque. In fact, this is no pure coincidence. Zionists now lovingly raise photos of the Egyptian military coup commander. Meanwhile, persistent opponents of the coup put up posters of the elected legitimate Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi on the walls of Al-Aqsa Mosque, as the military-installed president declared the division of Jerusalem into east and west sections, in tune with the Zionist lies that deny the Arab and Muslim identity of Jerusalem.

When the legitimate President rejected subservience and dependency, and supported our just cause in Palestine, the generals turned against him and removed him by force of arms, accusing him of "collaborating with Hamas" – a charge always used by Zionists against brave resistance fighters.

Coup authorities have announced that President Morsi will stand trial on November 4. That day will witness major peaceful protest events outside consulates and human rights centers in Egypt and abroad, to reaffirm popular rejection of the military coup, and to hail the steadfastness and persistence of the legitimate elected President.

The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance calls on the masses of the Egyptian people to continue the march of steadfastness and persistence, and to turn out in rallies on Friday October 25 in "Suez Persistence Path to Jerusalem" Friday, which will be the beginning of "Persistence" week of peaceful protest events against the treasonous, fascist military coup.

God is Great… God bless Egypt
