FJP Leader Ibrahim on Sinai Abductions: We Have Full Confidence in Armed Forces, Condemn Blackmailing

Hussein Ibrahim, Secretary General of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), said: "The meeting of political parties and national figures with Egyptian President Morsi Sunday was positive and constructive. All participants were keen to express their opinions clearly, amid total transparency and openness throughout the meeting.

Ibrahim further said, "The FJP’s position is unambiguous. We reject the policies of collective punishment for long adopted by the former regime with the people of Sinai. We also completely reject the use of excessive force. Certainly, the FJP refuses to submit to illegal extortion.

"The FJP has complete confidence in Egypt’s political leadership, security institutions and the armed forces, and in their ability to make the right decisions to ensure the safety of the abducted soldiers, at the same time preventing bloodshed and preserving state sovereignty without violating human rights."

Ibrahim also expressed deep appreciating for the many parties that showed keen interest to participate; and said he wished other parties answered the call to the meeting, adding that national interests are more important than political differences.
