Freedom and Justice Party Elects Hussein Ibrahim Secretary-General

In its regular meeting Thursday, attended by Chairman Mohamed Saad Katatni and party secretaries in Egypt’s provinces, the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP)’s National Committee discussed future strategies.


Further, the National Committee accepted the candidacy – for the post of FJP Secretary General – of Hussein Mohamed Ibrahim and Helmi Al-Gazzar, while Amr Darrag, Farid Ismail, Ali Ezzedin, Gad Al-Nozahi and Ashraf Badr-Eddin declined to join the race although nominated by a number of members of the National Committee.

Then, the election of the Secretary-General took place, with events and activities fully covered by news media, in an atmosphere of complete freedom and democracy.

The National Committee declared victory for Hussein Mohamed Ibrahim, as the FJP’s new secretary-general, winning 39 votes of the total 60 votes, while his opponent, Dr. Helmi Al-Gazzar won only 21 votes.
