Coptic Candidate for Freedom and Justice Party Secretary-General Post: FJP for All Egyptians
With the Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party, committed to equality amongst members, totally disregarding gender and religion, a senior Coptic politician applies for the post of Secretary-General of the party in Giza.

Justice Nahid Lamei Georgios, member of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) General Assembly and member of the FJP Public Relations Committee in Giza, on Tuesday, October 16 submitted his candidacy documents for the post of Secretary-General of the party in Giza.

Earlier, last Sunday, Azab Mustafa, head of the FJP internal election committee, announced the door open for internal party elections applications for the senior position, a process which ends on October 20, while elections are to be held on November 9, 2012.

For his part, Nahid said: "The FJP is not confined to Muslim Brotherhood members. It is a political party for all Egyptians.

"If I win the post of FJP Secretary-General, I will work to activate all party bases, including marginalized non-central secretariats of Atfeih, Imbaba, Safa and other areas.

"The role of the party will not be limited to service fields only. The FJP will have a role in organizing meetings and dialogues with all political players, movements and stakeholders, in order to participate in a real renaissance and elevation of the whole country, and to achieve the higher interests of Egypt."

Nahid further said he would be restructuring members’ thinking, so that each party member takes responsibility and acts as if he was the party chief, whilst inviting every FJP member to offer his or her vision for the development of all areas across the county.

Nahid said: "I believe these are truly free and fair elections. If I felt there was no room for me to serve in this place, I would not have joined any party at all".

He mentioned that he was encouraged and motivated by the generous support of people around him to apply for candidacy.

Indeed, many of his colleagues in the FJP asked him to do so.
