The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) confirmed it will participate in the Million-Man protests to take place on Friday November 18.  The MB stated that “This mass rally will be the first in a series of protests aimed at pressuring the cabinet to withdraw draft plans it said could allow the army to defy the elected civilian government. Dr. Ali Selmy’s document has fueled a serious crisis on the political landscape robbing the people of their legitimacy as the source of power and endorsing dictatorship. It undermines the achievements of the January Revolution and challenges its objectives”.

The statement continued: “These supra constitutional principles forced most national forces to reject them as they are unfair, binding both the People's Assembly and the elected committee entrusted with drafting the constitution. It has prompted the people to take to the streets and voice their rejection”.

Ending its statement the MB stressed that it had hoped that Dr. Selmy would conform to the will of the people demonstrated during the March referendum and respond to the demands of most of the national forces by withdrawing the document and protecting the country from unnecessary sedition. “The MB had hoped that the authority would create conditions for free and transparent elections paving the road for democracy. However, following negotiations with the cabinet, which insisted on clinging to non-democratic principles, we are left with no alternative but to join the mass protest to protect democracy," it stated.
