FJP Welcomes Mubarak’s Trial, Calls on Spain to Hand Over Hussain Salem

Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) leader Dr. Essam el Erian described the ousted Mubarak’s historical trial as a milestone for the Arab uprisings sweeping the region where Mubarak is the first Arab autocrat to face a judge.

During a phone interview with “Tahrir” channel, Erian described the New Egypt as inspiring the world with its model of democracy by trying Mubarak before normal judge in a due process. He stressed that Egypt had the potential to be a great nation but was looted by the corrupt leader and his regime that ruled for three decades with an iron fist and oppressed any who dared oppose him.

The former president, his interior minister, Habib El Adly, and six of the latter’s assistants also face trial on the same charges.

According to Erian the trial will open Pandora’s Box as the former leader will do what it takes to defend himself from the charges, which include ordering killings of innocent civilians.

Related, Erian called on Spain to do its part and hand over fugitive business tycoon Hussein Salem currently in Spain, involved in the bad gas deals with Israel and collecting millions of dollars in unlawful commissions. Erian indicated that it will be a shame if spain doesn’t hand over Hussain Salem.
