European parliament declares solidarity with Palestinian prisoners

GAZA,  The European parliament has declared fully solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation jails and expressed sympathy over their tragic incarceration conditions.

Dr Alexander Stutzmann, the chairman of the parliament’s international contacts, said, in a message to the head of the international contact committee at the higher committee in support of prisoners in Gaza Mohammed Radwan, that the European parliament would raise the issue of those prisoners.

He said that the parliament would pressure the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) to halt atrocious practices against them and to ensure its commitment to the international law and human rights.

Radwan had sent a message to the European parliament asking it to back those prisoners and to intervene to halt the oppressive practices against them.

Radwan said in a statement on Tuesday that the European parliament’s international relations committee would soon organize a special day in cooperation with Palestinian legislative council on the issue of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Meanwhile, the higher committee said in another statement that the IOA was harassing relatives of prisoners in a bid to push them into halting visits.

It said that the Israeli soldiers thoroughly search those relatives and force them to undergo strip searches while asking some of them to report to the intelligence apparatus.
