Copts call for boycotting MB coordination

Copts call for boycotting MB coordination

Michael Mounir spokesman for the International Coptic Council warned Egyptian opposition of collaborating with the Muslim Brotherhood group in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He called on them not to coordinate their activities with them.

Mounir explained that the ICC was currently discussing with Coptic activists in Egypt and abroad on whether or not to boycott the opposition parties that collaborated with the MB. Mounir also criticized the ruling National Democratic Party for its failure to nominate Copts as parliamentary candidates.

Contrary to Abdul Messih a priest in Cairo’s Mostorod district, allegations that  the MB regard the Copts as second class citizens, the Muslim Brotherhood has encouraged dialogue with Copts and other trends, stressing that the group have always considered the Copts as their fellow citizens who are rightly respected.
