NDP’s MP Continue Their Indecency

MP Nabil Loka Bibawy the National Democratic Party representative demonstrated unethical behaviour in parliament as he verbally abused Halim Qandil coordinator of the Kefaya movement. Insults including "Filthy" and "Low" in addition to other indecencies were used as he insulted Qandil in response to his fierce attacks against the Egyptian regimes’ policies. Qandil had opposed the regimes policies condemning the construction of the iron wall on the borders between Egypt and the Gaza strip during a television broadcast of the programme "The opposite direction" on Al-Jazeera TV earlier this week.

The intense discussion between the two MPs which lasted took two hours proved the ignorance of the NDP’s MP of the current affairs as he ignorantly denied the presence of the wall stressing that these constructions are merely geometric constructions. Qandil confronted him with a number of facts on the Egyptian violations of the Gaza Strip, starting from the closure of Rafah crossing point, preventing relief convoys from passing to Gaza, arresting Egyptians who oppose the construction of the wall and imposing restrictions of foreign activists.

During the programme Bibawy fumbled and was unable to respond to these indictments   responding only with further insults and describing him as "insane".

This incident was similar to the insults made by Boutros Ghali also from the NDP who offended members by profanities also

Coarse language was also used when Omar Haridi, NDP MP, rudely described the opposition MP Alaa Abdel Monem as an "indecent woman”. Adding salt to the wound was the passiveness of the Parliament’s chairman who  remained silent, which made the situation worse prompting MP Abdel Monem to retaliate with words including" prostitute”.  The verbal clashes escalated when MP Abdel Raheem Al-Ghoul addressed Abdel Monem called for Abdul Monem’s transfer to the Ethics Committee, without any regards to his colleagues’ inappropriate behaviour.
