Jamil Weld Mansour: Mauritanian Opposition Eager To Foil the Coup and We Are Ready For Dialogue

The leaders of the National Front for the Defense of Democracy and the democratic opposition forces blocs expressed their willingness to engage in a serious dialogue for a reasonable settlement to end the political crisis in the country.

The leaders opposing the electoral list’s agenda have emphasized their adherence to the street as an inevitable option under the rigidity resigned president of the court-martial Mohammed Weld Abdul Aziz and his rejection for having a serious dialogue.

The President of the Front Muhammed Jamil Weld Mansour criticized the actions of the police, which he described as “violating the law and security and out of the ethics and values of the Mauritanian society” as he mentioned a series of events among it storming into the headquarters of parties, attacking the supporters of the National Front and blocs and kidnapping girls and sending them away outside the city.

Weld Mansour stressed that National Front and the bloc decided to go to Dakar for negotiations in order to improve the current negotiations and taking to account the desires and hopes of the Mauritanian people and responding to the call of the President of Senegal Abdullah Wad, and clarifying that any progress in the negotiations requires the release of detainees and halting the electoral campaigns.

The Mauritanian opposition leader Ahmed Weld Dada described the two conditions as the normal beginning of any negotiation for a just compromise and within reasonable time to end the status quo.
Weld Dada described the continued detention of Weld El-Waqf and his companions as a flagrant violation of the law since they are hostages in the time being according to the decision of the High Court and there can not be a dialogue before releasing them as he stated.

Weld Dada stressed that the negotiation delegation has clear and restricts instructions which it will abide by in order to reach a reasonable settlement if one of the parties proved serious enough and it would not accept wasting time as the National Front and the bloc will not standstill waiting for the issue of elections to be resolved, instead they will resort to the street to foil it and force the other party to listen to its people.
