Al-Hashemi: “There Are No Disputes Within the Islamic Party, But Some Difference in Views

Tarek Al-Hashemi, Vie-President of the Republic and former Secretary-General of the Iraqi Islamic Party (IIP), in response to the spead news about IIP he stressed that “the media turmoil against the Islamic party and doesn’t have to do with security and is a mean of political pressure used for bargaining to make the party give up its role in combating corruption and pursuit the perpetrators”.

On the rumours of a political dispute between leaders of the IIP, Al-Hashemi responded saying: “there is no dispute but some difference in view points which is normal and is desired in the political work as it is the only way for developing and improving”.

And in a comment on his movement to full time job in government he said “we had many options in this regard but now I am very convinced that the option I chose for resigning and not standing again for Presidency of the IIP and this is not a new thing in the political work as some Constitutions in developed countries stress on the importance of separation between the party work and working in leadership positions for the state”.
