Egyptian Delegation Meets with American-Jewish Leaders in Preperation for Mubarak’s Visit to Washing

A high- level Egyptian delegation in Egypt recently has carried out discussions with one of the largest Jewish lobby organizations in USA, in preparation for the expected visit of President Hosni Mubarak to the US as the first of its kind in six years which is expected late this month.

These talks comes after a round of talks with Gamal Mubarak (Assistant Secretary- General of NDP) with US officials in Washington last March in a visit that lasted for five days which was full of secrecy and confidentiality and was preceded by a visit of the Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit last February.

The American Jewish Committee (one of the most prominent pro-Israel in the USA) stated that leadership of the committee met two weeks ago with a high-level Egyptian delegation headed by Dr. Hossam Badrawi (Head of the Education Committee in the NDP) and Moneer Fakhry Abdel Nour (Secretary-General of Alwafd Party) and Dr. Abdel Moniem Saeed (Director of Al-Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies).

According to a statement from America In Arabic news agency, the Egyptian delegation which visited Washington on April also included “Egyptian Diplomats” and had previous talks on the visit of Mubarak to the US, pointing out that Jason Isakson (Director of the Office of the Government and the International Affairs of the American-Jewish committee) has moderated a discussion with the Egyptian delegation on “political and strategic regional issues”.

The organization’s declaration on the visit of the Egyptian delegation can be found in English on the American-Jewish organization’s website:

Its noteworthy that Richard Seidman (Head of the American-Jewish Committee) has headed a Jewish-American delegation that visited Cairo on March 2009, and met during the visit with Egyptian political leaderships such as the Head of the Egyptian Intellegence Chief General Omar Soliman, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Abul Gheit and Dr. Abdel Moneim Saeed (Director of Al-Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies), in a visit that hasn’t been publicised.

The Jewish-American delegation also met with the leaders of the Jewish community in Egypt.
