Egypt Police Arrest 117 Muslim Brotherhood Members in Two Weeks
Egyptian State Security police arrested 117 members of the Muslim Brotherhood from six governments in the last two weeks.

Egyptian State Security police arrested 117 members of the Muslim Brotherhood from six governments in the last two weeks.

21 were arrested from the northern Al Beheira governorate, 13 of them were arrested on November 25, and they were accused of affiliation to a banned group and possessing promotional publications for the group’s thoughts.

Damanhur prosecution as well as the Appeals Court ordered their release. The Criminal Court decided their release as well, and the Ministry of Interior implemented the ruling on seven of them, and ordered the arrest of six, using the emergency law.

At the same governorate, eight were arrested on December 3, after assaulting demonstrators against Gaza Strip siege.

The Misdemeanor Appeals Court decided their release and accepted the defense’s appeal against the detention decision, but the Ministry of Interior used the emergency law to arrest them.

In Al Ismailiyya governorate, 18 were arrested, among them the head of the MB Administrative Bureau in the governorate on December 4. The prosecution ordered their detention for 15 days pending investigations.

The arrested were moved to Al Mahkum jail in Cairo, after rejecting the defense’s appeal after demonstrations held by the movement to denounce the Gaza siege.

In Al Sharqiyya governorate, 19 were arrested on December 4, accused of affiliation to a banned group. The Zaqaziq General Prosecution ordered their detention for 15 days pending investigations, after Gaza demonstrations.

In Marsa Matruh governorate, the security apparatuses arrested 24 on November 25 with the previous accusation along with "derailing the constitution." The prosecution ordered their detention for 15 days pending investigation as well.

Also in Alexandria governorate, the security apparatus arrested 21, seven of whom were arrested on November 25. Although a decision was issued to release the seven, they were detained for 45 days until December 12, under the emergency law.

Following the Gaza demonstrations, other 14 were arrested in Alexandria as well on December 4, as the prosecution ordered their detention for 15 days pending investigation.

In Al Gharbiyya governorate, 14 were arrested because of the demonstrations; they were accused of the same allegations. The prosecution ordered their detention for 15 days pending investigations.
