Alexandria Judges Demand Urgent General Assembly

A number of members of Alexandria Judges Club are leading a campaign to collect signatures, starting from tomorrow November 14, 2008 to demand holding an urgent general assembly to examine the recent events that have affected the club by Chancellor Ismail Al Basyoni, president of the club, which led to the dismissal of Chancellor Adel Sherbas, member in the board of directors of the club, on the background of his being included on the list of the defense of the judiciary independence “list of Chancellor Khudairi, the former president of the club.”
  
Chancellor Ahmed Mekki, vice-chairman of the Court of Cassation, said: “We will collect signatures of fourth of club members to have a quorum to hold the unusual assembly, ” adding that a meeting will be held late today evening to draft a statement, and that the process of collecting the signatures will not last more than two days.


   
He also confirmed: “The general assembly is our weapon as members of a general assembly to face the abuses taking place in the club and to face the aggression against members of the general assembly.”
