MB Students of several universities in Egypt organized today morning, Monday October 20, mourning stands in which they dressed in black scarves to protest against forging student elections and appointing the Secretary-General and the Assistant Secretary of the General Union of University Students.

About 360 MB students of Helwan University organized, at 10:30 am, a mourning stand to protest against appointing the Secretary-General and the Assistant Secretary of the General Union of University Students, the students lifted about 60 banners dressed in black, and were accompanied by the union students who were appointed by the security.

There were about 30 officers of various ranks within the university throughout the day, and after about 45 minutes, the students moved to the all colleges in the campus and stood before each of them for about four minutes, and then they went to section no.8 where the celebration of appointing the Secretary-General and the Assistant Secretary of the University was, the students stood behind a structure of a prison made of wood, muzzling their mouths with black hoods, dressing in black scarves, as well as shackling themselves by chains.

The students of Al-Azhar University, in Assiut, have organized a stand protest before the main gate of the University where students dressed in black scarves and banners, describing today –Student Union Induction Day – as being that of the death of the deceased student union.

MB students of Ain Shams University called students to consider Monday October 20, the day for mourning democracy whose funeral will be completed by the elections of the Secretaries of the University Union, and to mourn for the non-fair elections and student community in which corruption spread.

In their statement, MB students revealed: "Our withdrawal from elections was not out of fear from assaults or hopelessness from reform, as we will never give up our intention, and our hope to reform our community will not be vanished from our minds, but we wanted to give the university"s administration another chance to turn a new page through fair elections, as it alleges that we are spoiling the general atmosphere of elections."

In fact, there have not been free student elections since the early of nineties, which influenced the student life and led to the disappearance of student activities, this also gave the security along with the universities" administrations, the chance to abuse students offensively through investigation and expelling tens of them for their student activity and their call for applying fair elections that express students and reflect their ambitions.
