Ahmad Ali, deputy head of the General Petroleum Agency in Gaza, warned of an imminent fuel crisis in Gaza with the approach of the cold months of winter.

He said in a press statement that the amount of fuel allowed into the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation, despite it being slightly increased, does not cover the needs of the residents of Gaza at present and that he expects a real crisis when temperatures fall unless the fuel allowed into the strip is significantly increased.

He added that at present only 120,000 litres of Petrol and 1,200,000 litres of Diesel every week while what is needed is 120,000 litres of Petrol and 500,000 litres of Diesel daily.

Ali called on the PA in Ramallah to take leave fuel out of the current political wrangling.

A Palestinian report said that the Israeli occupation authorities continue to limit the quantity and quality of goods allowed into the Gaza Strip three months after the truce agreement, part of which was that the Israeli occupation opens the crossings.

The report, which was produced by the Crossings Performance Monitoring Project, noted the non-compliance of the Israeli side with its pledges to increase the quantity and quality of goods allowed into the Gaza Strip through the Karm Abu Salem crossing which has recently been expanded to allow the entry of 150 lorries a day.
